DYSTOPIAN LITERATURE
Dystopian Literature focuses on modern literature that offers a vision of the future by challenging readers to think differently about current social, environmental, and political climates. This course includes a study of major themes--surveillance, conformity, reliance on technology, rebellion, etc.. This class includes the reading and/or analysis of short stories, poetry, podcasts, non-fiction articles, current events, and film as well as novels. The course will begin with a whole group study of Dystopian Literature and will evolve into small group and possibly individual exploration of different elements of the genre: Technological Control, Environmental Destruction, Loss of Individualism, Governmental Control, and Survival . This class is for EVERYONE!
