Students will gain practical experience in gathering news, interviewing, research, writing, editing, headline writing and photography, along with proficiency in InDesign and Photoshop applications. Students also gain social media experience with the following applications: Facebook, Twitter, and Storify. Students also gain business and advertising experience with the selling and creation of ads, and maintaining a budget to cover costs of publication. Responsibility, integrity, initiative, and ability to meet deadlines are essential. Extra time outside of class for publication is required. Students are challenged to meet professional journalism standards as well as to continue The Main Four’s award-winning tradition in state competition.
