What will your child learn in World Cultures?

In this class, we will explore different regions of the world and the ESPN systems of them (not sports center!!).

ESPN stands for:

  • Economic

  • Social

  • Political

  • Natural Environment

Unlike World History (which your child will take in 10th grade), this class is not about memorizing dates and facts. We will be exploring the culture of world regions and how they tie into different areas of the world. My goal is for students to come away with an appreciation of other cultures.

How are grades divided?

40% Projects/Tests

35% Classwork

15% Quizzes

10% Homework

A little bit about me....

I am a native Houstonian and attended Longfellow Elementary, Pershing Middle School, and Bellaire High School (9th grade). After my freshman year, my family moved to Torrance, CA where I finished high school. I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from California State University, Dominguez Hills. After graduation, I moved back to Houston and received my M.Ed. from University of Houston as well as teaching certifications in Psychology, Sociology, World History, U.S. History, and Texas History. I have been teaching on and off for over 20 years.

I am a married mother of three. Nicholas is attending Houston Community College, Sasha is a senior at Lamar High School, and Ava is a 7th grade Lanier Purple Pup!!. Our family also has a five year old Shar Pei/English Bull Terrier mix named Stella.

In my limited spare time, I enjoy reading and binge watching Netflix and Amazon. I enjoy sharing my children's favorite activities: gaming and History (Nicholas), Lacrosse (Sasha), and Drama & Socializing (Ava).
