WELCOME TO HISD ADVANCED - HADV (FORMERLY KNOWN AS PRE-AP) ENGLISH 1!

We are excited to meet you in the fall. In the meantime, please use this website as a reference for your summer reading.

Students are required to read one book from the following list and will complete a project about their book during the first grading cycle:

• Circe by Madeline Miller

• Snowflower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See

• I am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai and Christine Lamb (not the Young Readers’ edition)

• Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand (not the Young Readers’ edition)

Students may choose to read a second title from this list for extra credit.
