Kia pai ngā hararei (happy holidays) Whānau!

Kia ora koutou! This term has flown by so quickly. It is unbelievable! Rekha and I just want to thank you for the unwavering support you have shown us over the last 10 weeks, for the benefit of all our tamariki. Ngā mihi kia koutou katoa!

HVS Learning Conferences happened in week 9 and it was so enjoyable catching up with all of the whānau to discuss student goals and inform you a little more about Learning Through Play.

We have some exciting things planned for term 2 and will keep you updated through this blog and via email and the school newsletters. Please keep safe over the next two weeks and we will see everyone back on Monday, April 29th.

Mathematics is awesome!

Mathematics - Learning should be fun!

Mathematics should be fun and based on our tamariki's understanding of the real world around them. Harakeke love music and singing, so we have used this medium to do lots of number knowledge learning in term one, which they have really enjoyed.

New video links have been added for other fun mathematics videos that we have been using to learn about counting numbers in different ways.

Making a HVS Banner for The Wellington Islamic Centre

After the tragic events in Christchurch, Harakeke returned to school on the morning of Monday, March 18th. We were very sad and discussed what act of kindness could we do to let the Muslim Community of Wellington know that we were thinking about them. It was suggested that we make a 'big sign' to express our aroha to Muslims everywhere. It was gratefully accepted by a lovely member of the Mosque and they thanked us for our thoughtfulness.
