Here's a page dedicated to sharing environmental resources, including information about Hotchkiss' classroom oppurtunities, facilities, and more!
Fairfield Farm -- our 287 acre farm that allows students to engage in hands-on study of local food systems and sustainability.
FFEAT -- Fairfield Farm Ecosytems and Adventure Team, a co-curricular program where students can work and learn on the farm during the Fall and/or Spring seasons. Students have the opportunity to participate in every facet of farm life, from planting crops to feeding animals and processing the harvest.
Biomass Facility -- our wood chip-powered central heating facility, where 95% of our heat and hot water comes from.
Lake Wonoscopomuc -- the deepest natural lake in Connecticut, where students like to hang out early September and late spring-time. It also provides an ideal classroom for studying limnology.
Larsen Trail -- seven mile loop trail surrounding campus, ideal for hiking, running, walking, reflecting and relaxing.
Hotchkiss' surroundings make it an ideal place for studying environmental science. Here you can take a look at our robust selection of environmental electives, available for lowermids, uppermids, and seniors:
