Example of Vocational Brief: Working as a Junior Researcher

TeenScene Media are a media production company producing media products across a range of sectors. They are planning a new range of products designed to appeal to young people from 13-19 across a range of demographic backgrounds and are researching how past and present media products are created to engage specific audiences.

Students work in a role as a junior researcher and are required to write a report reviewing a range of media products

Year 10

Example of Vocational Brief: Working as a Junior Technical Operator

TeenScene Media are running a competition to discover the next generation of talented teenage media producers.

Students take part in workshops and experiment with a wide range of media skills and techniques, and then apply these to re-imagine an existing media product for a new teenage audience. Such as a music video and a print advert.

Year 11

BTEC Creative Media:

Using vocational briefs linked to creative media industry (broadcast and publishing)

Brief published by the exam board once a year.

Students will be required to work autonomously as a Junior Researcher to develop ideas during pre-production stage. Followed by working as a Junior Technical Operator to produce a media product.

The above processes match the job activities undertaken by a creative within the broadcast & publishing media sectors. Examples are: storyboard artist, producer, director, editor, camera operator and picture editor
