Year 9
In BTEC Enterprise Component 1 students research two successful businesses in the Horsforth Area. They prepare a project discussing how each business uses Location, Distribution, Entrepreneur Skills, Marketing, and Customer Service to succeed in the area.
Year 10
In BTEC Enterprise Component 1 students research two successful businesses in the Horsforth Area. They prepare a project discussing how each business uses Location, Distribution, Entrepreneur Skills, Marketing, and Customer Service to succeed in the area.
Year 11
Students complete a group skills audit as part of their component 3 coursework. This gives students an opportunity to look at their own employability and entrepreneurial skills and how these skills may be utilised in a team environment. Ideas can include financial management, leadership, organisation, persuasive techniques,, resilience.
Year 12
As part of BTEC Unit 1, students are asked to look at private and non-for profit sector businesses to produce reports looking at their internal and external environment, stakeholder impact, and organisational structure. As part of assignment 2 they are asked to look at key functional areas within a large business i.e. Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations, Admin and ICT. And discuss how specific job roles help contribute to business success.
Year 13
As part of Unit 3, students take an exam on Personal and Business Finance. Here they understand how to act as an accountant dealing with financial records, forecasts, profitability and liquidity. They also study the importance of personal financial management looking at payment methods, sources of financial advice, and methods of raising and managing finance. Students have a deeper look at the banking and mortgage sector. And how people can manage budgets and income through the UK financial sector.
