MOOCs are Massive Open Online Courses, free or inexpensive, which are available for anyone to undertake. MOOCs last for 2-8 weeks, for a total of 2-4 hours per week.
MOOCs provide an affordable and flexible way to learn new skills, support your career intentions (if you have any!), enjoy a high quality educational experience and study something in which you have a genuine interest.
In your applications for higher education / apprenticeships / employment you’ll have to show the skills and qualities (“competencies”) which you possess, along with evidence of “activities” to support this.
Through lessons, School and Sixth Form enhancement activities, work experience and activities outside school, you can put together ideas for this. Unifrog help you to record these ideas.
Sometimes it helps to take a “psychometric test”, to find out more about your personality & interests, and careers / pathways which might be suited to them.
Unifrog have 2 tests of this kind – try them!
Everyone needs a CV – it is your opportunity to sell yourself to a range of institutions and people.
It makes sense to have an overall CV in place then, each time you apply for something, to think about the competencies and activities the recruiter is looking for - and tweak your CV each time you apply for a new role.
