Message from the Headteacher
We’ve had a wonderful end to the half term with our Vision Awards assemblies, where we celebrated the children who have shown our value of Hardworking. Congratulations to all our worthy winners – we are so proud of you!
We would also like to wish a very Happy Diwali to all our families who have been celebrating this week. We hope you enjoyed a joyful and meaningful celebration with loved ones.
Thank you to all the parents who attended Parents’ Evening, and to our dedicated staff for staying late to meet with families. These conversations are such an important part of supporting our children’s progress and wellbeing.
During the half-term break, the team will be busy behind the scenes working on our new school website and getting to grips with our new Information Management System, Arbor. Both developments will help us to improve communication with parents and ensure everything we share is clear, efficient and professional.
We wish all our children, families and staff a wonderful half-term break. Enjoy a well-earned rest, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for the exciting weeks ahead.
See the bottom of the 'Updates' page for more details about upcoming diary events!
Vision Awards
This week we celebrated our Vision Award Assembly, focusing on our core value of hard work. In recent assemblies, Mrs Appelby has been helping pupils explore what it really means to be hardworking — sharing clear success criteria and examples to help everyone recognise the many ways they can demonstrate this important value in their daily school life.
It was wonderful to hear teachers speak so warmly about their new pupils, highlighting how well they’ve settled into the year and how their dedication and effort are already shining through.
A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who joined us — we hope you enjoyed the morning as much as we did! Finally, a special thank you to our Parent Governor, Saraswathi Ramanan, for giving us your time to help us to present the awards.
Our Autumn 1, Hardworking winners are:
Reception: Mayra, Nilakksha, Ayman
Year 1: Salma, Marzec, Elham
Year 2: Aland, Marharyta, Elsa
Year 3: Amara, Lea, Ikram
Year 4: Olaf, Vethiga
Year 5: Eissah, Fabian, Dvia
Year 6: Jenny, Iman, Eldridge
We’re excited to announce the launch of our new website during the half-term holiday!
Please note that there may be some brief disruption as the new site goes live. While a few pages and some info will be “coming soon,” you’ll already find plenty of useful information to help you stay up to date.
Some key pages to explore include:
Year Group Pages
School Meals
Uniform
Calendar
Curriculum
School Clubs
Wraparound Care (Aktiva)
Our website is still a work in progress, and we look forward to sharing more news, updates, and documents with you very soon. We hope you enjoy exploring what’s new! Thank you to all the children who took part in the photography.
The website link will be the same as before: www.horsenden.ealing.sch.uk
Earlier this term we announced that our school will soon be introducing the Arbor Parent App!
This easy-to-use platform will make it simpler than ever for parents and carers to stay connected with school life—all in one secure place.
Through the app, you’ll be able to:
View your child’s attendance
Update contact details
Check important messages in the notifications
Book parents evening appointments
Book and pay for trips
Make other miscellaneous payments
and lots more
The Arbor App will help improve communication and ensures you have the information you need at your fingertips. More details and instructions on how to get started will be shared with you when we return from the half term holiday.
When we return after the half term holiday, a new menu will be served over three rotating weeks.
Please check your email for the new menus sent to you today. Please note the design is slightly different as there will be one page for each week. You will need to check the ‘week commencing’ dates on each of the pages to know which week we are on.
Special diets: If your child has a special diet, the deadline for reviewing and signing your new menu was today. If you haven't already collected this you can pop into the office during half term to review and sign it. The new menu will not be served to your child until you have provided this permission.
As we are launching our new website, the menus will be available to download from Wednesday from the Parents > School Meals webpage.
We will be on WEEK 1 menu when we return from the half term holiday on Mon 3 Nov.
School Streets ANPR Cameras: School Streets operate term time only, according to the dates published on the Ealing Council website: Academic year 2025/26 | Term and holiday dates | Ealing Council. They will be back in operation on Monday 3rd November.
