Message from the Headteacher
We’ve had another lovely week at Horsenden. Year 6 impressed us all with a fascinating and informative assembly about the circulatory system — well done to everyone involved! Meanwhile, Reception had a wonderful time exploring the local area on their walk, showing great curiosity and enthusiasm along the way.
Our office team have also been very busy behind the scenes setting up our new Information Management System, Arbor. The data transfer is nearly complete, and we’re looking forward to sharing the next steps for parents very soon. Once it’s up and running, parents will be able to access important information more easily — such as updating contact details, viewing attendance, and booking appointments or clubs — all in one place. Arbor will also help us to streamline our administrative work and make communication between home and school even smoother.
A quick reminder that if you haven’t yet booked your Parents’ Evening appointments, you can still do so via the school office.
We’d also like to apologise for a small mix-up in last week’s newsletter — we said that Parents’ Evening would be on Monday and Tuesday next week, when in fact the correct days are Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd October. The dates were right, but the days were not! Thank you for your understanding.

6D Class Assembly
Today, 6D delivered a fantastic and informative assembly all about the circulatory system. The children explained how this vital system works and demonstrated to the audience how blood and oxygen travel through the different arteries and veins around our bodies. Their clear explanations and confident delivery helped everyone understand just how remarkable the human body is.
Adding to the excitement, 6D performed a lively and memorable song all about the heart. The lyrics were full of fascinating facts- did you know that the body’s circulatory system could stretch an astonishing 60,000 miles if it were laid out end to end!
This was the final Year 6 assembly of the year and 6D certainly ended on a high note. The class did themselves and the whole Year 6 team proud with their enthusiasm, teamwork and depth of knowledge. A huge well done to 6D for such a polished and engaging performance, and to all of Year 6 for a brilliant series of assemblies this year.
Reception's Local Walk
This week, our Reception children enjoyed a wonderful local walk as part of their learning about the community around them. Along the way, they spotted some familiar landmarks, including Sudbury Hill Station and some places of worship.
The children were so excited to explore and showed great curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and noticing lots of interesting details about the buildings and their surroundings. We were very proud of how well they listened, walked safely, and represented our school so beautifully in the community.

If you missed the deadline to book your teacher appointment via the SCOPay app you will need to contact the school office directly to book an appointment. You will not be able to see your child's teacher without an appointment. Each appointment lasts 10 minutes, and will take place in your child's classroom.
Please enter via Horsenden Lane North gate Come to the main office and walk down the corridors to your child's class, and wait in the shared area to be called in by your teacher.
Years 5 & 6 - please come through Horsenden Lane North gates and walk through the playground to your building.

Your child’s individual photograph taken on the 29th September is ready to order.
School Photographs can be viewed using the QR code on your proof card.
If you have already scanned the QR code on the proof and registered, you will receive an auto email notification.
If you have not registered yet, you can still view by scanning the QR code on your proof and following the instructions.
If by chance you have not received your proof or it has been lost you can call Vancols Photography Parent Line on 01206 273711. If you haven’t purchased photographs from them previously you will need to contact the school directly for the website photo code.

We’ve noticed an increasing number of children arriving late in the mornings, which can be disruptive to both their learning and the class. A calm and punctual start sets the tone for a successful day.
Please remember:
Reception to Year 6:
School starts between 8:45 and 8:55am. Registers are taken at 8:55am, and doors will close at this time.Nursery:
Starts earlier, at 8:40am, with doors closing at 8:50am.
If your child attends Nursery and has older siblings in school, please drop off the Nursery child first.
