Message from the Headteacher
Today 5S treated us to an inspiring and engaging assembly in which they taught us about the East India Company and shared extracts they have written based on their English text The Jungle Book. They performed wonderful songs and poems, and presented their learning with such confidence and enthusiasm. We are incredibly proud of them.
We also marked Anti-Bullying Week, with every class taking part in activities linked to this year’s theme, Power for Good. Our assemblies focused on our value of Respect, and we enjoyed the story Do Unto Otters – a humorous tale about a hare learning how he would like his new otter neighbours to treat him.
In addition, we welcomed governors into school this week as part of their regular monitoring of our School Development Plan. They were particularly impressed by the children’s positive response to our new handwriting routines and expectations, and by the significant improvements in handwriting that many pupils have already made since the start of the year.

5S Sharing Assembly
5S gave a truly memorable sharing assembly, impressing everyone with their confidence and enthusiasm. They began by explaining their learning about Mowgli from The Jungle Book, focusing on writing vivid setting descriptions. It was great for the audience to hear the children's writing too! The children brought their model texts to life by acting out their story map which really engaged the audience.
Next, they shared their geography and history learning, exploring the British Raj and the tea trade. Their acting and demonstrations helped everyone understand these topics in a lively and memorable way. 5S also highlighted their PSHE learning about kindness, showing how important it is to think about others and act with care in everyday life.
A huge thank you to all the parents who attended and supported the children. We are incredibly proud of 5S for the way they spoke so clearly, articulated their ideas, and performed with such confidence - it was a wonderful showcase of their hard work and creativity!
Eco Warriors Take Action!
Our Eco Warriors are embarking on an exciting new project to help reduce our school’s carbon footprint as part of the Eco Schools programme.
To kick things off, the children visited the school’s main plant rooms and swimming pool plant room to learn how our heating systems work and just how much energy it takes to keep our school warm. It was fascinating to see the huge machinery in action, and everyone was very impressed by our Site Manager Mr Craig’s expert knowledge—including Miss Borsig, who picked up a few handy heating tips to use at home!
The children asked thoughtful questions and made brilliant connections with their classroom learning. As Kaspar observed, “So this is like the heart of the school, with valves and pipes like veins, sending heat all around the building.”
Working with Mr Craig, our Eco Warriors are now collecting baseline data for the Eco Schools Carbon Calculator to measure our current footprint. Their next step will be to launch a practical, pupil-led campaign to help us all make small, sensible changes that will make a big difference for our planet.

Flu Immusations - catch up
There is another opportunity for pupils to receive the flu vaccination in school on Tuesday 9 December 2025. This session is for children who missed last month’s vaccination and for Year 2 pupils who were on a trip. Flu can make children very unwell, and vaccination helps protect them and others who may be more vulnerable.
A letter and leaflets with full details were emailed to you on Monday and are available to download from our Parents > Letters webpage here.
Please complete this form by Monday 8 December 2025 if you would like your child to have the nasal spray or the non-gelatine injection.
If you previously completed the form and your child missed the jab, there is no need to fill it in again.

Attendance Letters
Attendance Letters
Red (under 90%) and amber (90 to 95.9%) attendance letters were sent out this week to share children’s current attendance percentages.
As part of our statutory duty, the school is required to keep parents and carers informed about attendance.
We recognise that, this early in the school year, a few days of absence can make percentages appear lower than expected. These figures will improve as the year progresses if children continue to attend regularly.
If there are any underlying reasons contributing to your child’s absences, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Green letters for those with 96% and over will be sent out next week. Thank you for your continued support.
Swim Kits - Y3, 4 & 5
Swim Kits - Y3, 4 & 5
Please remember to send your child’s swim kit on their allocated swimming day in Years 3, 4 and 5. We receive lots of requests each week to borrow kits, but school only has a very limited supply of spare items, which can be used for emergencies only. Children should bring swim trunks or a costume, a towel, and a swim hat if they have long hair.
Swimming schedule:
Monday: 3S, 5H
Tuesday: 3H, 3D
Wednesday: 4H, 4S
Friday: 5S, 5D
