RH completed their first sharing assembly with us today, and what a lovely moment it was. It was clear to see just how much they have been learning in Reception, with confident references to their topics about rainforests, space and people who help us.

They delighted us with a range of songs and rhymes, and retold the story of a cheeky orangutan who stole an explorer’s camera (The Secret Explorers and the Rainforest Rangers). The children spoke with impressive confidence, sharing their ideas clearly and showing real understanding of what they have been learning.

We were all incredibly impressed with their oracy, enthusiasm and presence—such a strong start to their journey at Horsenden.

On Thursday, the children in Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic opportunity to take part in Team Rubicon scooter workshops, as part of the school’s and Ealing’s commitment to promoting sustainable travel and active communities.

Organised by Miss Magar, the event was an immediate success with our KS1 pupils. The children not only learned how to ride their scooters safely and the importance of wearing appropriate safety equipment, but they also built their confidence by practising new skills and fun tricks.

Our Reception children had a wonderful trip to Holland Park as part of their learning about rainforests and the natural world. The visit gave them the opportunity to explore a rich outdoor environment and experience nature first-hand.

During our time in the park, the children were excited to spot a variety of wildlife, including squirrels, ducks and even a peacock. These moments sparked lots of curiosity and conversation, helping the children make connections to the animals and habitats they have been learning about in class.

We also spent time exploring the nature areas, observing different plants and flowers and talking about how living things grow and survive in their environments. The children particularly enjoyed using their senses to notice colours, textures, and sounds around them.

The trip was a fantastic way to bring our learning to life and the children represented the school beautifully with their enthusiasm and behaviour. A big thank you to our parent volunteers for supporting us on the day.

We are incredibly proud of the four pupils who represented our school at the England Schools Swimming Association Team Qualifiers, held at Notting Hill and Ealing School. 

A huge well done to everyone involved. We now look forward to the results and are hoping for the best.
