With temperatures expected to remain high over the coming days, we would like to remind families to take extra care to keep children safe in the heat.

Children can become dehydrated and overheat much more quickly than adults. Please encourage your child to drink plenty of water throughout the day, wear lightweight clothing, and spend time in shaded areas where possible. When outdoors, apply a high-factor sun cream regularly and ensure children wear a sun hat to protect their head and face from the sun.

Signs of overheating can include dizziness, headaches, tiredness, feeling sick, or becoming unusually irritable. If your child shows any of these signs, move them to a cool place, encourage them to drink water, and seek medical advice if you are concerned.
