Message from the Headteacher
This week has been a steady and purposeful one, with a continued focus on learning and progress across the school. Senior leaders and teachers have carried on with pupil progress meetings, alongside a dedicated phonics development day, allowing staff to reflect carefully on how well children are doing and how we can continue to strengthen teaching and learning.
We are proud of the progress children are making overall. Where we have identified some gaps in learning, we will be putting additional support in place both in school and at home. This will include targeted learning pathways through phonics virtual classrooms and Century, helping children to practise key skills and build confidence.
As we continue to talk about being Empowered in our assemblies, this has linked closely to children understanding their next steps in learning. Knowing what to improve and how to improve it is an important part of becoming an independent learner. At home, you may wish to ask your child about the most recent feedback they received in writing and whether they know what their next steps are.
A reminder to parents and carers to please book your slot for Parents’ Evening via the Arbor app, when appointments go live. These meetings are an important opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and any support that may help them continue to do well.

4H Sharing Assembly
4H kicked off the spring term with a fantastic class assembly all about their learning on the Vikings. The children spoke so articulately and it was clear just how well they had rehearsed. They confidently shared key facts and brought their learning to life through some brilliant songs, including a particularly tricky tongue twister that impressed everyone.
The assembly was highly engaging and interactive, with the audience -parents included- working hard as they had to vote on whether they would choose to be a Viking settler, raider or trader. It certainly got us all thinking and sparked some great thoughts.
Well done to 4H for such a confident and thoughtful assembly, and thank you to all the parents who joined us to support the children.

Save the Date
Parents' Evening for all year groups from Nursery to Year 6 will be taking place over two days:
Tuesday 10th February: 3.30pm to 6pm
Wednesday 11th February: 3.30pm to 7pm
You can choose whichever day is convenient for you.
You will have a ten minute appointment with your child's teacher which you must book in advance via the Arbor Parent app.
We will advise you via email when the Arbor booking system for parents evening will go live on the app.
If you have not signed up to the Arbor app yet, we will send you a reminder with instructions to register, early next week.
If you need any support registering for the Arbor Parent app, please contact the office. We will be very happy to help.

Class assemblies are a wonderful opportunity for children to showcase their learning and achievements to parents and carers, and we would like to thank everyone who has been able to attend and support these performances.
Spring Schedule
Year 3 reminder:
The class sharing assemblies scheduled for the Spring term will now take place on Thursdays, rather than Fridays. This change allows children to continue enjoying their specialist Friday morning lessons, including Music, Computing and PE, without missing out. Here are the new dates:
3S – Thursday 29th January
3H – Thursday 5th February
3D – Thursday 5th March.

2D - Friday 24th April
Class sharing assemblies are held from 9:00–9:30am in the main school hall.

Please see the reminders below to help ensure children are prepared for the school day:
Water bottles
Please ensure your child brings a named water bottle to school every day. This helps children stay hydrated and ready to learn.
Swimming kits
We have noticed that many children are arriving at school without their swimming kit on their allocated swimming day. While we try to provide spare kits in an emergency so children do not miss out, we do not have enough kits to lend out. Please check your child’s swimming day and ensure they bring their full kit. Thank you for your support.
