Message from the Headteacher
This week we have welcomed everyone back to school and begun the Spring term with a real sense of purpose. The children have returned settled, focused and ready to learn, which has made for a calm and positive start to the term.
Senior leaders and teachers have also been holding pupil progress meetings, looking carefully at how children have performed in their recent assessments and discussing how we can support them to make even stronger progress this term. Alongside this, writing remains a key focus across the school, with staff talking thoughtfully about how we can refine our feedback to ensure children continue to improve the quality of their writing.
In assembly this week, we introduced our value for the term, Empowered. The children explored what it means to be empowered—having confidence in yourself, using your voice, and taking responsibility for your learning and choices. It has been lovely to see these ideas already being reflected in classrooms as we begin the new term together.

Y1 Visit to Gunnersbury Park Museum
At the end of December, Year 1 enjoyed a wonderful visit to Gunnersbury Park Museum. The children took part in an exciting workshop all about toys, where they learned how children played in the past.
They had the opportunity to handle and play with traditional toys, including yo-yos and a range of wooden games.
After the workshop, the children explored and played in the park, making the most of the outdoor space. Everyone had a fantastic time, and the children said they especially loved the workshop and the games.

Thank you to all our parents/carers who have signed up to the Arbor Parent App & Portal.
From now we will start using the Arbor system for sending all emails and messages to parents and carers. SCOPay will no longer be used.
Please see information below:
Emails: These will be sent from the Arbor system and delivered to your email inbox (not the app). Please check your junk/spam folder and move any emails from Arbor to your main inbox. We also recommend adding the Arbor email address to your safe sender list to ensure future messages are not filtered as spam.
Trips & Horsenden Clubs: All trips, and clubs run by Horsenden (i.e. Choir, Arts & Crafts) will now be bookable on your Arbor app/portal. If your child has a trip or club it will be visible on the app - you will need to give consent and pay for any trips/clubs on the app directly.
Payments: All payments for trips and clubs are now via the Arbor App.
In-App messages: Occasionally, we will send messages directly to the app (similar to a text message). When a message is waiting to be read, a red notification bubble will appear on your Arbor app icon on your mobile phone.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO REGISTER ON THE APP. If you need any support please contact the office. We will be very happy to help.

Our After School Clubs will restart next week, w/c Monday 12th January, and will run for 9 weeks (excluding half term w/c 16th February).
Clubs start at 3.20pm until 4.20pm. Please collect on time. There is NO PARKING on the school site.
Please check your Clubs letter emailed to parents and carers in December with full details. You can also view the clubs schedule and how to book on our webpage here.
External providers require booking and payment to be made directly to them. Horsenden Clubs are paid for via the Arbor Parent App.
For Spring, we have spaces available on most of the clubs. CHESS requires more bookings in order to go ahead, so please do book now. Thank you.

Reception 2026 - Reminder
If your child was born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022, they are due to start Reception in September 2026, and you must apply for a primary school place through Ealing Council.
All applications must be made online via the eAdmissions website:
www.eadmissions.org.uk
Please note that this website must be used regardless of which borough you live in.
The closing date for applications is Thursday 15 January 2026. Late applications may not be considered on time and could affect the school place offered to your child, so we strongly encourage you to apply as early as possible.
Please be aware that attendance at our nursery does not automatically guarantee a Reception place at Horsenden Primary School.
