Horsenden Primary School
Message from the Headteacher
This week has been full of achievement and festive cheer at Horsenden. Our water polo and football teams represented the school brilliantly at their respective competitions. The children participated with confidence, teamwork and determination, and were excellent ambassadors for our school. We are incredibly proud of them all.
Back in school, it has been assessment week—an important opportunity for children to show us how well they have been progressing this term. As always, we are impressed by their effort, resilience and positive attitudes.
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to a generous parent—who wishes to remain anonymous—for donating beautiful Christmas baubles and decorations. These will proudly adorn our real Christmas tree, kindly donated by Hanwell Christmas Trees. A special thank you to Miss Young for reaching out and securing this wonderful gift for the school. The tree will no doubt bring extra sparkle and joy to the children’s celebrations this year.
Finally, a reminder that Christmas Dinner and Christmas Jumper Day will take place on Thursday 11th December. We look forward to seeing the children dressed in their festive best!
See the bottom of the 'Updates' page for more details about upcoming diary events!
Water Polo Competition
Nine children from Years 4, 5 and 6 had the fantastic opportunity to represent Horsenden Primary School in their very first water polo competition, held at Notting Hill and Ealing School. They competed against four other teams, showing great determination, teamwork and resilience throughout the event.
Our team played five exciting matches, winning three and only narrowly losing two. For a first-ever competition, this was an outstanding achievement! The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience, tried their absolute best and proudly represented our school in both skill and sportsmanship.
We are incredibly proud of every one of our players. Well done to all involved—what a brilliant start to our water polo journey!
Y6 Football Tournament - a great start to the season
Year 6 proudly represented our school in the first football tournament of the academic year, taking part in the Years 5/6 Advanced Football Competition on Friday 5th December 2025 at Gunnersbury Park. Competing against 12 other Ealing schools, our team rose to the challenge with enthusiasm and determination.
The players showed excellent teamwork throughout the event, embracing the School Games Intent of developing confidence and competence in their physical activity and sports skills. They also demonstrated the School Games Value of Respect—a value that is also central to our own school ethos—making this competition a wonderful fit for our pupils. Their sportsmanship, encouragement of one another, and positive attitude shone throughout the day.
Well done to our Year 6 players for a brilliant start to the season—we are excited to see how they continue to grow! A huge thank you to Mr Rattrey for the training he has provided in the run up to the competition and to Ms Stawiana for accompanying the group of children today too, on this cold December day!
The flu vaccination session will take place on Tuesday 9 December 2025 for Year 2 pupils, with a catch-up opportunity for any Reception to Year 6 children who missed their vaccination in October.
Please be reminded to complete the e-consent form for your child as soon as possible.
Please note that the form must be completed even if you do not wish your child to receive the vaccine.
Families can choose either the nasal spray or the non-gelatine injection.
