Message from the Headteacher
As the weather begins to warm up, so too does the learning across the school.
On Monday, we were delighted to welcome two local headteachers to Horsenden to carry out a Peer Review. It was a really positive and purposeful day, giving us the opportunity to reflect on our practice, celebrate what is working well and identify clear next steps. We are incredibly grateful to be part of such a collaborative and supportive network of schools, working together to continually improve the experience we offer our children.
This week, we also enjoyed not one but two fantastic class assemblies from our brilliant Year 1 children. They performed with confidence, enthusiasm and pride, and we are very proud of both the children and the staff who supported them in preparing such high-quality assemblies.
There has been plenty more happening across the school too—from taking part in swimming galas, to even learning from visiting firefighters. It has been a busy and exciting week, full of rich opportunities for our children.

1S Class Sharing Assembly
On Thursday morning, Year 1S delighted us with a fantastic assembly all about dinosaurs and plants.
The children took us on a time-travelling journey to explore how dinosaurs lived in the past, sharing their learning with enthusiasm and confidence. They also taught us about the importance of plants to life on Earth, including a lovely song about how all plants start from a seed.
It was an engaging and enjoyable assembly, and we are incredibly proud of how confidently they performed.
Well done, Year 1S!
1H Class Sharing Assembly
This morning, Year 1H wowed us with a fantastic assembly, sharing the wonderful learning taking place in their classroom.
The children spoke confidently about their work in PSHE, Geography and Art, and impressed us with their diary writing, which they performed with great expression. We were also treated to some brilliant singing, including Incredible Me, a song celebrating how unique and special we all are.
It was a joyful assembly that really reflected our school values and the children’s growing confidence and enthusiasm for learning.
Well done, Year 1H – we are all very proud of you!
Firefighters visit Reception
Reception had a very exciting visit this week from our local firefighters as part of our learning about people who help us in the community.
The children had the opportunity to learn about the important role firefighters play in keeping us safe, including how they respond to emergencies and the different equipment they use. They listened carefully as the firefighters explained what happens when a real emergency call comes in and how quickly they must act.
The highlight of the visit was exploring the fire engine, where the children were thrilled to climb inside and see all the tools up close. It was a fantastic hands-on experience that brought our learning to life and inspired lots of questions and curiosity. A big thank you to Northolt fire service for such an engaging and memorable visit!
Swimming Gala Success
Twelve of our talented swimmers from Years 3, 4 and 5 took part in a gala this week against Notting Hill and Ealing School - the event was a great success. For some of our pupils, this was their very first gala, and they did amazingly well.
All swimmers showed fantastic determination, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts and the way they represented our school.
Well done to everyone who took part!

Scooters and bikes on site
We kindly remind all parents and carers of the importance of safety on the school site. We have received several concerns regarding children riding scooters and bikes within the grounds. For the safety of all—particularly our pupils—this is not permitted. There have been instances of children riding ahead of adults and moving quickly through the car park, which poses a serious risk.
Please ensure that children dismount from scooters and bikes at the main school gates and walk them to their classroom doors or to the designated scooter and bike parks located at either end of the site.

Lost Property

As mentioned in the newsletters at the end of Spring term, Lost Property items not collected at the end of term were to be disposed of or recycled.
Please note that all items in the Lost Property trolley have now been removed.
Please name all your child's clothing, including shoes, plimsolls, water bottles, bags, etc, so that we can get lost items back to you.

Whole Class Photos Thursday 30th April
The Whole Class photoshoot will take place on Thursday 30th April.
Please ensure children come in their full school uniform looking smart and ready to represent their school.
Children who have P.E on this day must also come to school in their full school uniform as P.E will be a light session and a change of clothing will not be required.
Each class has been given an allocated time slot for their class photos. Photos will be taken in groups and will be merged together for a modern outlook.
Children will come home with a QR code that will allow you to view your class photo and place any orders.
