About me

My name is Jackie, I am an accredited counsellor based in Leigh on Sea in Essex.

I support a wide range of people experiencing different challenges, but my area of expertise is grief and loss.

Grief is often associated with the loss of a loved one, but it encompasses far more than that. People can also experience deep feelings of grief in response to various kinds of loss, such as:

When we lose something that has been significant in our lives, we grieve not just the absence of that thing, but also the impact it has on our future, our sense of security, and our way of life. These losses can disrupt our routines, challenge our self-image, and force us to confront an unfamiliar reality - making the grieving process a natural and necessary response to any significant change.

There is no right or wrong way to grieve, nor is there a time limit. It is a complex process that can sometimes make people think they are going mad, and this is why I created Horizon Grief Counselling, to provide support at such a difficult time.

With over 10 years of experience working in hospice settings (St Luke’s and then Havens Hospices) offering therapy to individuals and groups, I have dedicated my career to supporting people through some of the most challenging times of their lives.

I specialise in working with end-of-life clients, bereavement, and those living with cancer and other chronic conditions. I’ve also worked with Cruse Bereavement Support as a counsellor. Additionally, my own personal experience of grief has deepened my empathy and understanding allowing me to connect with and support a diverse range of people.
