Horbury Bridge CE J&I Academy

John Carr 300th Birthday Celebrations

Next Friday, Horbury St. Peter's Church are holding an event to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Horbury-born architect, John Carr's birthday. There are events planned all weekend, including a children and families event on Friday 28th April from 6-7:30pm. The event will be packed full of interactive stations all to do with architecture, and if that wasn't enough, the Horbury Bridge Academy Choir will be singing at 7:15! We would love to see you there!

Author - Elizabeth Green

Following the success of our author visits earlier this year, this week we welcomed Elizabeth Green to the academy to talk about her book 'The Adventures of Detective Dopeyworth!'. Following an insightful assembly into the writing and publishing process, Elizabeth spent time in each class discussing being an author in more detail. As always, pupils were enthralled and asked some wonderful questions. It is always a joy to see pupils so engaged in reading - it really is the key to education!

If your child would like a copy of Elizabeth's book, please can you email the office by Tuesday 25th April and include in the email the name of the child the book is for, as Elizabeth would like to personalise and sign the copies. £7 will be added to your Horbury Bridge Academy account per book.

Tennis...without the weather!

This afternoon, Class 3 had great time at their first tennis session at Slazenger Tennis Club. Despite the weather doing its best to foil our plans, everyone got stuck in and really enjoyed the experience. More umbrellas and water bottles than strawberries & cream and sunshine...but I'm sure that will come!

Have a lovely weekend
