My goal as a therapist is to provide a non-judgmental space where you feel genuinely heard and empowered to explore solutions that meaningfully fit your life. This desire stems from my experience as a client whose therapist honored my whole self – hopes, fears, personal truths – something I found took time and trust to voice. My approach is strengths-based and trauma informed, drawing from systems- oriented, narrative, and Relational-Cultural theories.
I believe we are built for connection and deeply impacted by influential systems that we develop within – from family, community, and society to larger power structures. These relational and cultural systems inform our life stories and self-beliefs through the varied messages that we receive and experiences faced. The relationships that we hold dear, or struggle within, are often deeply impacted. Because people are complex, I take a holistic and relational approach to client care – one in which you can safely explore your perception of emotional and physical needs. As values, personal strengths and identity are considered within a collaborative therapeutic environment, our sessions become steps toward empowerment and healing. While authoring your life story, meaningful personal goals may emerge and be met with self-understanding and transformation.
Before entering the field of counseling, my areas of study included domestic and relational violence, immigrant youth and family, the adoption triad (adoptee, adoptive parents, birth family), and substance use recovery. I support those facing life transitions, trauma, grief, and loss not commonly understood or validated. My experiences, and the people I have encountered along the way, formed a deep respect for the unique paths we find ourselves on – I would be honored to walk beside you on yours.
