A myriad of paths lead us toward therapy, whether navigating the heavy waters of anxiety, trauma, and major transition, or finding ourselves stuck in patterns that aren’t serving us. These liminal phases can feel like a threshold, knowing we can’t stay where we are, yet still unsure of where to go next. Therapy offers a space to slow down, explore inward, and map out the path forward with support.
Hi, I’m Syd! I primarily work with LGBTQIA+ folks, people navigating identity or life transitions, and those who have felt misunderstood or out of place in traditional systems of care. I also work with individuals, couples, non-monogamous and poly partners, and families navigating relational challenges.
My approach is relational, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I draw from attachment and family systems theories, narrative therapy, IFS/parts work, and other approaches depending on clients’ needs. During sessions, we might explore internalized stories, befriend the protective parts that work to keep you safe, develop healthier coping tools, or process patterns cyclically showing up in relationships. I’m also open to exploring spirituality and meaning-making through practices like tarot, astrology, magic, and ritual for clients who are interested.
Often, traditional talk therapy may leave gaps in holding experiences of trauma, grief, identity, and more. As an art therapist, I integrate creativity to explore challenges and events that words alone may not adequately express. Art therapy may look like collaging, drawing, or painting; other times, it’s simply finding a song, playing with metaphor, or scribbling to release emotions. No artistic experience is needed!
I’m queer, neurodivergent, and chronically ill. I bring these identities to my work, and they deepen my commitment to disability advocacy, social justice, and anti-oppressive mental health care. I first discovered therapy as a client myself. This has fostered profound empathy for the courage it takes to start and commit to the therapeutic process, and sparked my passion to nurture growth in others. Outside of therapy, I’m typically painting, writing, listening to podcasts, brewing coffee (retired barista!), hanging out with my cats, or playing video games with my partner.
I earned my Master’s in Couples and Family Therapy with a specialization in Art Therapy from Antioch University Seattle in September 2026.
