The centre is open for courses, appointments and workshops.

From 17th May, Hope Foundation classes have been back to normal. You should attend all classes. We are also open for workshops, CyberCafe and appointments

Please do two covid tests before coming to the centre.

If you are not showing any symptoms of covid-19:

There is a drop-in testing service available at Newport Hub. This is on Union Street and is available 11am to 5.45 pm Tuesday to Saturday. For information about other sites or to book a test at Newport hub online, visit the council website.

Once you are enrolled on a qualification you can go to Middlesbrough College for the free testing and receive free home testing kits for the duration of your course. There is more information and a booking form on the College website.

If you are showing any symptoms you must not come to the centre and must book a PCR test.

You should self-isolate until you have the results of your test . Please show us evidence of a negative test result before returning to the centre.

If:

  • you have tested positive for covid-19 in the last 10 days

  • you are waiting for a covid-19 test or results

  • in the last two weeks you have had:

    • a high temperature or fever

    • a new continuous cough

    • a loss of, or change in, your sense of smell or taste

  • live with someone who has tested positive for covid or had covid symptoms in the last 14 days

  • have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for covid or displayed any symptoms in the last 14 days?

  • you have returned from a country for which the current UK government advice is to self-isolate on return.

then you should self-isolate and must not come to the centre.

If you are on a course please let your tutor know so that you can continue learning while you self-isolate.

Anyone who doesn’t follow social distancing and hand hygiene rules or has a cough or fever will be asked to leave.

To keep learners and staff safe we:

  • will clean and disinfect rooms, desks, door handles, light switches, computer keyboards, equipment and toilets every day we are open

  • will provide hand sanitiser at reception and in each classroom

  • cannot open the café—please bring your own food and drinks

  • will check your temperature when you arrive

When in centre we expect you:

  • to arrive promptly at the time above

  • to wear a mask when moving around the centre - you can remove this once you are in class.

  • to wash or sanitize your hands regularly

  • to bring any equipment you need with you e.g. pens, pencils, ruler.

  • to keep two metres away from everyone else in centre at all times

  • not to gather inside or around the building
