Parents volunteers are integral to the success of the Troop
While the Troop is scout-led, the advancement and learning is facilitated through parents’ support of the Troop.
All scout activities require at least 2 Registered Adults (RA) to be present and one of the RA must be a female if youth female are present. Only RA are allowed to camp overnight and keeping scouts safe.
Registered Adults (RA) roles:
Troop Committee Member (TCM)
Scoutmasters & Assistant Scout Masters (SM & ASMs)
Merit Badge Counselor (MBC)
Adult volunteers must complete the following items in order to be a RA:
1) Send an email to committee_chair@hongkongtroop1.org, registrar@hongkongtroop1.org to express your interest in being a Registered Adult. (RA).
2) Complete and sign BSA Adult application: https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/524-501.pdf
3) Form A &B must be filled out annually for exisiting and new RAs (go to "Forms" on our website to find Form A&B).
4) Complete Online Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT) and obtain the SYT certification. https://www.scouting.org/training/youth-protection/ (must have a valid date, requires annal renewal)
5) Email application and SYT certificate to committee_chair@hongkongtroop1.org, registrar@hongkongtroop1.org and scoutmaster@hongkongtroop1.org for processing and FEC approval
6) Upon approval by the Far East Council (FEC), arrange payment with them FEC.Registrar@scouting.org. The cost is around $140 USD
7) After all approvals, complete the online position trainings in scouting.org as soon as possible under your own login. Depending on your role, different trainings are needed/required. i.e. additional trainings are required for Scoutmaster (SM) and Assistant SM. (i.e. IOLS, hazardous weather training)
