On Saturday, November 2nd, a town hall meeting with Anthony Brindisi (NY-D), congressman for New York State’s 22nd District, took place at the Cortland Presbyterian Church. Approximately thirty people attended the event.
Brindisi opened the meeting by reviewing what he had been working on in the past year such as agriculture bills, veteran’s affairs, and climate change issues. Anthony Brindisi discussed the idea of spreading awareness about veterans who do not have a place to live and who are taking their own lives. He stated clearly that this is an important and crucial topic to Brindisi. The congressman also had the topic of climate change come about. He made clear that solar panels being built on family farms is not okay, and we should work on making solar panels on unused spaces such as junkyards.
During this meeting, Anthony Brindisi, a Democrat, allowed the audience to ask questions about all the topics he researched while in Washington D.C. One audience member, who happened to be wearing the iconic "Make America Great Again” hat, asked a question. The concern was, “When are the Democrats going to start treating President Trump fairly?” Whilst the man was questioning Brindisi, one man yelled, “That’s not a question!” This seemed to rile up quite a few of the attendees at this meeting. Later, the man who had asked the question was seen being interviewed by a photographer. The town hall meeting lasted one hour, as scheduled.
