Women in Manufacturing Day

By: Michaela Catalano and Sophia Eastman

On October 20, 2017, Women from Homer-Center High School traveled to Westmoreland County Community College Advanced Technology Center in Mt. Pleasant to experience manufacturing. There, women from a variety of schools in the Pittsburgh area had a hands-on experience they’ll never forget. The students had the opportunity to learn and experience Robotics and Automation, 3D Printing, Plasma Cutting, Virtual Welding, Soldering in Electronics, Water Jet, and Revit-Design a House and Furniture. They also had Women in Manufacturing fields come and give a presentation along with a Q&A session with all the women.

“I really enjoyed this hands-on, educational experience,” Ayannah Elliott states. “ I recommend this program to fellow women so they can have a fun and great experience.”
