By: Gabi Page

Ms. Yeager is a student teacher for band classes here at Homer-Center. She is currently an undergraduate at IUP majoring in music education. She is originally from Jamestown, New York. Ms. Yeager was asked the following questions about her personal life and interest in music:

Personal Life:

Interviewer: How many siblings do you have?

Ms. Yeager: I have one older brother.

Interviewer: What school did you go to, and what was your favorite subject?

Ms.Yeager: My school was called Panama Central, and my favorite subject was music (if that counts).

Interviewer: Were you involved in any sports or extracurricular activities?

Ms. Yeager: Yes, I was in track and I played soccer year-round.

Interviewer: Do you have any hobbies/interests besides music?

Ms. Yeager: I really like crafting, like knitting, quilting, crocheting; just weird things like that.

Interviewer: What was the first instrument you learned how to play?

Ms. Yeager: Um, the first one I learned was trumpet.

Interviewer: What is your favorite instrument to play?

Ms. Yeager: My favorite one to play is my own, which is euphonium.

Interviewer: What is your favorite genre of music?

Ms. Yeager: Rap.

Interviewer: What is your favorite thing about music?

Ms. Yeager: I would have to say my favorite thing is that everyone can feel an emotion, but it doesn’t have to be the same emotion.

Interviewer: What inspired you to become involved with music?

Ms. Yeager: Actually, my private teacher was paralyzed from the neck down, and yet he still found a way to teach children, so he’s been my biggest inspiration my whole life.

Interviewer: Are you in any bands or musical groups outside of school?

Ms. Yeager: Yeah, I’m actually part of an estrogen band, which is like a jazz group compiled of all females, which is pretty rare.

Interviewer: If you had to choose any major besides music education, what would it be?

Ms. Yeager: I probably would go into engineering because I really like math.

Interviewer: Dogs or cats?

Ms. Yeager: I love them both, but if I had to choose, I would go with cats.

Interviewer: Vanilla or chocolate?

Ms. Yeager: Chocolate all the way!

Interviewer: Pizza or wings?

Ms. Yeager: Wings, but only the crispy ones.

Interviewer: Summer or winter?

Ms. Yeager: Definitely summer; I hate being cold.

Interviewer: Reading or math?

Ms. Yeager: Math; I like both, though.

Interviewer: What is your ideal vacation?

Ms. Yeager: To be sitting on the beach with no plans except for where I’m staying.

Interviewer: What is your impression on HC so far?

Ms. Yeager: I like how everyone knows everyone and everyone truly cares about each other. So just like the close bond, I think it’s really nice.

If you see Ms. Yeager anywhere in school, make sure to say hi! We’re more than happy to have her here and we can’t wait to see what her future brings.
