The Holy Redeemer Band Program is a comprehensive instrumental music course tailored for students in Grades 5 through 8. Designed for both beginning and continuing young musicians, the program guides students through instrument assembly, tone production, rhythm reading, ensemble playing, and basic music theory.
Through small group lessons and full ensemble rehearsals, students learn to master their chosen instruments (woodwinds, brass, and percussion) while discovering how individual performance contributes to the success of the entire ensemble.

Foundational Excellence: Develop proper instrument care, posture, hand position, embouchure/articulation, and reading standard musical notation.
Growth Mindset: Encourage regular practice habits and personal responsibility as students work through new techniques and musical repertoire.
Collaborative Ensemble Skills: Build teamwork, listening skills, and artistic expression by performing together as a cohesive unit.
School & Community Engagement: Share our music through school performances, liturgical celebrations, and concerts.
🗓️ Class Structure & Schedules
To ensure every student receives targeted instruction, the band program combines full group band periods with weekly small-group/individual lessons.
Lesson are organized by individual students per grade (Monday through Friday). Students are responsible for keeping track of their assigned lesson time & day, bringing their instrument and instructional materials on those days including the (4) four weekly Full Band class days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday), and staying current with classroom expectations.

Clear communication between home and school is essential for student success. We utilize two main tools to keep families updated:
Google Classroom & Program Website:
Google Classroom serves as the internal student workspace for posting learning materials, instructional videos, and audio/playing submission assignments.
Program Web Page acts as a public home base for calendar dates, handbooks, and contact details for parents and administrators.

Students should bring the following items to every lesson and band class:
Assigned instrument in clean, working condition
Instrument Case clearly labeled with NAME
Standard Method Book (assigned by grade level) Sound Innovations for 5th Grade beginners
Folder for sheet music and handouts
Pencil (pens are not permitted on sheet music)
Instrument-specific accessories are required (reeds, valve oil, slide grease, drumsticks/mallets)
