What are some skills/competencies (NACE) that you developed during your internship?

Throughout this internship, I feel as though I developed and strengthened a lot of skills and

competencies. One in particular is Teamwork/Collaboration. As this was a remote internship, I was

able to work with a very diverse group of people from all areas of the world. This allowed me to see

the different perspectives while also working with such passionate and like-minded individuals

who all were working towards a more sustainable future. I also feel as though I developed my

Leadership skills through my internship. I was a project manager for my team, so I was in charge of

running the projects we were working on and assigning tasks for my team to do. I also planned and

ran our meeting to ensure that we were getting everything done that we wanted to do. This

position allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and lead a team through amazing projects that

prioritized the well being of the staff at the company.

How does this experience connect to your future career goals?

In the future, I hope to go into environmental consulting, and eventually law school for

environmental law. Through this internship experience at Seaside Sustainability, I was a member of

the Green Consulting Team, where I researched sustainable practices for school campuses and

created training programs to train future consultants. By doing the research and creating the

training materials, I was able to gain knowledge for the different areas of sustainability consulting

first hand. This experience will hopefully help me to find a career in that field and utilize what I

have learned to the fullest extent.

What advice would you give to other Holy Cross students?

One piece of advice I would give to other Holy Cross students is that, if you are unsure of what type

of career you want to pursue with your major/degree, try working in an internship setting to gain

experience in different areas of the field. Without this internship experience, I would have never

known that I am interested in sustainability consulting, and now can focus my job search and

further education in that direction.
