What are some skills/competencies (NACE) that you developed during your internship?
Some skills that I improved upon over the Summer were teamwork, critical thinking, and leadership. I
constantly had to work with my peers to coordinate tasks and had to think on my toes about the most
efficient way of going about things. My fellow intern and I had a lot of responsibilities, but through
collaboration and communication we were able to have a really successful summer.
How does this experience connect to your future career goals?
Working at a smaller company like Cambridge allowed me to gain insights into a lot of different aspects of
the insurance industry. Whether I continue with a career in insurance or not, I now have a much better
understanding of what people in different roles do (i.e. financial analysts, HR, CEO, Managing Director,
etc.).
What advice would you give to other Holy Cross students?
Don’t worry about finding the perfect internship at the perfect company – just get out there and get your
feet wet. I wanted to work at a big bank this summer, and instead I worked at a small insurance brokerage.
In the end, it was a blessing in disguise as I was given a lot more responsibility than I would’ve had at a
larger company.
