1) What are some skills/competencies (NACE) that you developed during your internship?
I learned how to carry out professional medical research and various statistical measures in order to correlate and validate data.
I was able to be a leader, communicate between and collaborate with other interns and supervisors, and develop great relationships.
I became a better public speaker as I presented findings from our research projects to doctors and head medical figures in the field.
2) How does this experience connect to your future career goals?
I knew I wanted to be in the medical field, but this internship helped me learn that I do not only want to do research, but I want to be an educator as well.
I took part in medical research from the clinical perspective, but now I know that I want to try to take part in it from the developmental perspective, and this internship helped me establish connections so that I am able to.
3) What advice would you give to other Holy Cross students?
Network as much as you can. Make a list of names and emails of potential employers and employees that you can reach out to.
Do not take on more than you can handle. Even if you want to try to impress by handling a massive workload, it is the quality of the work that you produce that makes you stand out.
Smile!
