1) What are some skills/competencies (NACE) that you developed during your internship?
I have strengthened my research skills by directly applying my research to the field and seeing how well it applies to my work. I am able to see the direct effects of my work, which helps me to determine the changes I should make the next time around. Adaptability was very important during this internship because we were all learning as we went, so I was very flexible with the tasks I needed to complete. Adapting to the current circumstances was beneficial because I was able to see how uncertain everything can be and our product was perfectly marketed for remote activities.
2) How does this experience connect to your future career goals?
This experience has allowed me to determine what specifically in psychology interests me. This will help me down the road when I am looking for a long term job since I already know I enjoy working in this field. My knowledge gained through this internship will set me up for success, but I also will have a lot left to learn. I also have experience working remotely now, so I think this will make it easier when I can transition to in-person work because I feel comfortable problem solving on my own if I need to.
3) What advice would you give to other Holy Cross students?
Working remotely is very challenging for me, but keeping a routine makes things easier. Keeping a strong relationship with the employer and co-workers and setting up frequent meetings helps stay motivated and accountable for your work.
