1) What are some skills/competencies (NACE) that you developed during your internship?
During my internship, I certainly developed some important skills/competencies that will help me moving forward as I transition into my early career. When working with my fellow interns, I would say I learned how to better work with a team in a professional setting. Another skill that I developed was having a strong initiative, or being a self-starter. With my experience being remote, it was important to keep self motivated in order to put forth the best effort possible.
2) How does this experience connect to your future career goals?
In the future, I hope to one day transition into a career in investing. My internship experience at Hammersmith Capital helped give me an intimate look into a work situation in which an individual, being my supervisor Winston, who started a career in a completely unrelated industry and transitioned over into an investment focused career. Additionally, the work I was doing helped me develop important investment research skills and practices, which I hope to utilize later in my career.
3) What advice would you give to other Holy Cross students?
Even when conditions are not ideal, such as the move to remote internships this Summer, go all in and really put forth maximum effort. While I was hoping to be in an office atmosphere this Summer, I still put my full effort into my remote position and it could not have worked out better.
