1) What are some skills/competencies (NACE) that you developed during your internship?
Technical skills: Photoshop, HTML coding, customer research, and market research
Other skills: the ability to look at things from several points of view, communication, asking coworkers for their opinions and building trust amongst the team.
2) How does this experience connect to your future career goals?
By exposing me to an array of tasks, I learned that there a several core functions in this career path that appeal to me including problem solving, understanding the customer, and designing/creating. These projects resonate with me and I certainly want to pursue a career in which all three are present. Marketing lacks in some areas (it is less statistics/number driven than other fields), but it definitely appeals to me as a potential career path.
3) What advice would you give to other Holy Cross students?
Ask questions! If you don’t know what Holy Cross has to offer, then ask! If you’re lost in a project and need advice, ask! I love being independent and accomplishing tasks all by myself, but I find that I learn a lot more and I feel more engaged in an endeavor when I use my resources and lean on the people around me, so ask questions and challenge yourself.
