1) What are some skills/competencies (NACE) that you developed during your internship?
One of the biggest skills I gained on this campaign was how to adapt.. Campaigning during the Covid-19 outbreak means adapting to challenges constantly and being able to change course if things are deemed impossible in the current climate. Whether it be leading contactless Literature Drops, phone banking for Arati via zoom, or helping host online webinars with voters, the campaign taught me to always keep thinking and never give up.
2) How does this experience connect to your future career goals?
This experience helps me in my future career goals because it showed me how satisfying it is to work for something you truly believe in. I worked for Arati Kreibich’s campaign not because I believed she was a shoe in to win but because I believed in her politics and wanted a better future for my home district. After this internship I feel more sure of wanting to go into a career where I can see direct change and action between my community and myself.
3) What advice would you give to other Holy Cross students?
I would advice Holy Cross students to always keep their options open and to always ask more. When I was on the campaign I was only able to make the Pride Video because I asked people explicitly if I could go above-and-beyond and create the Pride Month video. Through asking questions and being open to helping out others on their own projects, you will be able to make the most of your time at your internship.
