1) What are some skills/competencies (NACE) that you developed during your internship?
This is my first internship, so I have gained knowledge on working in a professional setting. I became extremely proficient at constructing emails, I was able to make professional calls, contribute to daily meetings, work on multiple teams and so much more.
I also learned a ton about conducting and reporting research. Through the Wilma Rudolph research I learned how to make multiple drafts of a research report, I learned how to condense my research and present my findings to my team.
Through the capstone project, I learned to collaborate with others on a long term project, reach out to other members at WSF that I may not know, dig for research in various places, analyze the data and report on it.
2) How does this experience connect to your future career goals?
I’d be lying if I said what I wanted to do in the future but I have learned a multitude of professional skills that will help me in the future.
I may not know where I will end up, but my mission will forever be to advocate for females in all spheres and I have learned skills to do just that.
I also learned that I can have a career in an area I love, like sports.
3) What advice would you give to other Holy Cross students?
I think we have all learned from this year, that life is so unexpected. I wish I was going into the office every single day but unfortunately I am not, so I would say take every opportunity you are given at your internship with a smile. Chances are a lot of people would kill for your position so be grateful, be positive and wear a smile.
