1) What are some skills/competencies (NACE) that you developed during your internship?
I think that I developed the ability and confidence to connect with a virtual team and work remotely, a skill which is increasingly important in this day and age.
I also gained experience with data management and analysis while working on our Capstone Project, which aimed to condense, analyze, and present WSF’s efficacy and impact over the past several years.
2) How does this experience connect to your future career goals?
I’ve been really interested in the nonprofit sector as well as women’s advocacy. I’ve also been an athlete and a sports fan for most of my life. This internship really represented to me the intersection of a lot of my academic and personal areas of interest. Gaining insight into both the business of sport and the nonprofit world have been really valuable.
I also believe this internship has given me a lot of marketable skills which will serve me well in the future regardless of what career path on which I decide to embark.
3) What advice would you give to other Holy Cross students?
Get to know the people you are working with. Everybody is connected and everyone knows someone that can help you! Make an effort to connect with your team/employer/coworkers because you never know if they will be able to help you in the future.
