1) What are some skills/competencies (NACE) that you developed during your internship?
During my internship I learned how to code for websites such as Amazon and Shopify. After I completed this task, I began working on a summer Instagram campaign. HB allowed me to take charge and craft a pitch that we would use to attract models, influencers and celebrities, to endorse the bags on their personal social media platforms. We then cold called individuals who were interested in working with our company. We focused on gifting bags in return for an endorsement. Through this experience I have gain confidence in cold calling and I have expanded my network in the fashion industry. I was able to create relationships with people such as the owner of a successful modeling agency in LA and also the daughters of the producer of Stranger Things and the Night at the Museum franchise.
2) How does this experience connect to your future career goals?
In the future I would love to work in the fashion industry and I am happy that I was able to create relationships with individuals working in fashion and entertainment. I also learned that I enjoy the business side of the company over social media marketing. I learned that I enjoy negotiating endorsement deals much more than being creative on Instagram designing ads and creating captivating captions.
3) What advice would you give to other Holy Cross students?
I think it is very important to work hard and ask questions. I learned very early on in the internship that it is important to ask a lot of questions. It is always better to have a strong understanding of the task at hand rather than remaining silent and confused. In addition, take advantage of networking opportunities and always follow up with a thank you.
