James Audubon

James Audubon traveled the United States cataloging and drawing a wide variety of species of birds. James Audubon drew the birds and animals he found by observing them in the wild. Although we did not have live birds to observe we did use pictures of Turkeys.

A month or so later we came back to James Audubon by creating sketch books. Each student personalized the cover of their sketch books. During the next class period the room was set up with a variety of nature products that each student could sketch. The books will stay here in class and with luck and good weather we will be able to take a trip to the court yard and sketch outside.

Each one of the tables in the art room was set up with different objects in nature. Students were able to move around the room from table to table to sketch the objects that interested them.
