Student Absences

Reporting Absences or Leaving During the School Day:

If students are unable to attend school or are required to leave for an appointment which cannot be scheduled outside of school time, we require notification by a parent/caregiver as follows:

HPSS is a closed campus which means that students may not leave the school grounds at any time of the school day (including a visit to the shops).

If we are not advised prior to pick up for an appointment the parent/caregiver needs to come in to collect them and advise reception at that time, as we cannot release a student without advice from a parent or caregiver.

When Students are Feeling Unwell During the School Day:

The student needs to let their teacher know they are unwell and then visit the school nurse located in student services, rather than contacting parents direct to collect them.

It is really important they be examined before leaving the school and that the nurse calls the parent/caregiver if they need to be collected.
