CALENDAR FOR TERM 1, Weeks 1 - 3:

Week 1: Tues 29 January - Friday 1 February

During Week 1 on Tuesday 29 and Thursday 31, only Foundation students and new students come into school for their IEM’s (individual Education Meetings). Information regarding learning coaches, communities and IEM bookings have been emailed to all students and their families. Wednesday 30 is a Teacher only Day. On Friday 1 February all new students and student leaders will attend a Powhiri and an induction day. Also taking place is:


Peer Mediator Training: Victoria, one of our Guidance Counsellors, will be working through a training day with our Peer Mediators on Wednesday 30 January. Students will receive information from Victoria prior to the Start of Year.

Aspiring Student Leaders: Senior students indicated on their sign out form if they were interested in being involved in leadership opportunities at HPSS. They will receive an invitation from Lea to attend a Powhiri on Friday 1 February to support our new students and staff, take part in some Leadership workshops and contribute to our induction day. Students will receive an email from Lea the week of 14 January with details of the programme and asking them to confirm their attendance on this day.

International Student Orientation Day: On Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 our international students will be taking part in an orientation day. Students involved will receive information from Heidi.

Week 2: Monday 4 February - Friday 8 February:

All students will be at school on Monday and will be working in their hubs and communities. Times for week 2 are outlined below:


School Photos: Photolife will be taking school photos on Monday. These will be Learning Hub photos and individual photos. The individual photos will also be used for student ID cards and will replace the student photos in Kamar. You will have an opportunity to purchase your child’s photographs and will be sent information by Photolife.

Community Day Trips: On Tuesday Communities will be off site, taking part in day trips with the focus being learning about the area and their communities, but more importantly forming strong relationships with their Hub and Hub coach. Tiriwa community will be going to Muriwai, Taheretikitiki will be taking part in Waka Ama, Onekiritea and Waiarohia will be doing Amazing Races. There will be a small charge of $10 per student to go towards part of the cost, the remainder covered by the school. Permission slips will be sent home in January, prior to Week 1.

Students will meet in their communities before leaving on their Community Day trips. The focus of this day is to learn about their community and to build relationships with their hub and hub coach.

NB: Wednesday Morning Start times: 9.30am

Students must be at school and in Community / Hub spaces at 8.55am, except Wednesday where students start at 9.30am. On Wednesday’s staff are in Professional Learning from 8.30 - 9.30am.


BYO DEVICES

CLOSED CAMPUS

HPSS is a closed campus which means that students may not leave the school grounds at any time of the day. If they are required to leave for an appointment which can not be scheduled outside of school time we require prior notification by a parent. Students may not leave during breaks to visit the shops etc.

SCHOOL FEES AND SCHOOL ACCOUNTS

There are several ways which you can pay your child's school account:

2/ Online. Bank account: 12-3119-0242094-01. Please include the reference HPSS and your child’s name.

3/ At the school Kiosk in the reception area using either cash or eftpos.

HPSS is a cashless school, Please do not give your child cash to give to staff.

SCHOOL APP

Hobsonville Point Secondary School App! Simply go to your App Store and search 'Hobsonville Point Secondary'. We encourage all students, parents and caregivers to have it downloaded and ready for the new school year! It includes a handy calendar, student notices, quick and easy absences messenger and will be the main way that we will be sending out messages and alerts. Simply download and select the alerts that you want, select your hub (or your son or daughter's hub) and any other group you are part of.


STATIONERY

Stationary will also be dependent on course selections. If students are required to purchase specific stationary, their course teachers will let them know when they start their timetabled programme in Week 2/3.


UNIFORMS

Current uniform: school uniform shirt, appropriate navy/black bottoms (shorts, skirts, long pants available from Uniform Shoppe), school stadium jacket or school hoody, any appropriate footwear. (Mufti for PE)


Our supplier, The Uniform Shoppe, now known as SAS Sports will be operating from The Trust Arena, 65-67 Central Trust Drive, Henderson, Auckland. Shop hours are usually Monday and Tuesday 10am - 6pm, Thursday and Friday 9am - 5pm. Wednesday CLOSED.

VEHICLES THAT STUDENTS DRIVE TO SCHOOL

We now have more students who are licensed to drive. All students who wish to drive their own vehicle to school must complete a Student vehicle use form. This includes a commitment to following all regulations in relation to their licence. Carrying other students as passengers is not permitted.
