Inclusion in sport

“Only when you see us like you, wonderfully ordinary, will these barriers fall apart.”

Our programme aims to be fully inclusive to ensure all students, including disabled young people, receive a quality experience.

"My disability is my opportunity."

Halberg believes inclusion is being accepted, belonging, empowered, valued and actively participating within a group structure or activity.

Welcome to Nurture Sensory and Learning – a dedicated play space for under 5s, right in the heart of Napier. Join us for sensory and play-based learning classes, or drop in and try out our play area.

What is Sensory Play?

Sensory play can include a variety of activities that stimulate a child’s senses – touch, smell, taste, sight and hearing. These activities also include anything which engages movement and balance.

Sensory activities can be enjoyed by all ages – from newborns to adults! There are many benefits, including:

Disability Sport and Recreation Hawke's Bay are excited to announce that a new group has been established in the region!

Disability Sport & Recreation Hawke’s Bay is a community group focused on improving participation of disabled rangatahi in sport, recreation and physical activities. The organising group has evolved from parents and athletes involved with the Hawke’s Bay team who attended the Halberg Games last year. This will be fantastic for the region, creating more opportunities to get active and meet new people.
