For over 10 years, the annual Year 8 Ski Trip has been a highlight for students at Havelock North Intermediate! This fantastic opportunity is designed for everyone, regardless of their experience level. If you've always wanted to try skiing or snowboarding but haven't had the chance, this trip is for you! It's an amazing way to make new friends, learn new skills, and create lifelong memories.
This is only an approximate cost.
The cost will be communicated when registrations open each year.
The specific dates will vary from year to year.
This is a 2 day, 1 night trip.
Year 8 students only (approx. 27)
Whakapapa, Mount Ruapehu
Details:
A message will be sent out Mid-Term two as to the exact date and time that Registrations will open.
Registrations for the program will be open for approximately two weeks via School Bridge.
If more than 27 registrations are received, a ballot will be held to randomly select students. Once students are identified, their Whānau will be contacted and will need to confirm acceptance of the place.
Those not selected in the ballot will be placed on a waitlist. This ensures that if a student's situation changes and they can no longer attend, a spot can be offered to the next person on the list.
The cost of the trip will need to be fully paid approximately 5-6 weeks before the trip takes place. Any Whānau who have not paid by that date will forfeit their place and it will be offered to the next student on the list of original registrations.
Students of any skiing / snowboarding ability are able to attend (varying abilities are catered to through lessons from qualified instructors). We love taking those who have never experienced being on the snow before - for many students this is the highlight of the year!
A list of what gear is needed will be available once students have been notified of their place on the trip.
Some parent help will be required for this trip. It is preferred to have a few parents who have experience on the snow .
The cost includes:
Ski/snowboard package for two days (lessons x2 or x3, all mountain lift pass, gear hire)
Accommodation
Travel (school minivan and parent cars)
Dinner and breakfast at accommodation
Hiring of snow jackets, pants and helmets will be an additional cost per day if needed (usually around $18 per day, for all three items)
