Thank you for your interest in Orienteering at HNI for 2026. HNI has a proud reputation of being strong at orienteering in Hawkes Bay and nationally. HNI are the 2022 holders of top school awards for Y7&8 Boys and Y7&8 Girls at NZ Orienteering Secondary Schools Championships.

As a school, we compete in the local HB events – the School Sprint, Rogaine, Middle Champs and Long Champs. HNI itself does not put on or run any events.

The Hawke’s Bay Orienteering Club has events from now until the end of November. If you are interested in competing in the Hawkes Bay School Events this year (HB Schools Sprint Champs/ Long Champs/ Middle Champs/ Rogaine), you should go to as many events as you can in preparation .

2025 NZSSO Championships - 11-13 July in Auckland - competitors can usually travel and stay with the HNHS team - watch the student notices for up to date information.

O for Kids

O for Kids is a series of after-school orienteering competitions Entry Fee $4 per run see www.hborienteering.com for more details. Follow the club's Facebook page. O-for kids

For the primary students there is the O-FOR KIDS training sessions in

term 1.

These are held at primary schools in Hastings (Thursdays) and in Napier (Tuesdays) with starts open between 4:15-5:30 and courses closing at 6pm. Special fee applies ($4 per run)

You may join in on any week, just come along during opening time .... no pre-registration is required. We look forward to seeing you. Link to further information
