What is an Orff Ensemble?
Orff-Schulwerk (developed by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetmann) is a process-based approach in music education that uses speech, games, movement, drama, and elemental form to develop musicianship, creativity, and ensemble performance skills. An Orff Ensemble is an extension of the collaborative music-making that we do in music class. Students will have the opportunity to sing, dance, act, play, improvise and compose using both pitched and non-pitched percussion instruments, such as xylophones and drums, as well as props, such as ribbons and scarves.
Our Goal:
Our goal will be to weave together a story with music and creative movement. The activity will culminate in a performance.
Registration for Term 1 ASA's will open via the Activities Office on August 1st at 12:00 noon. Registration is FREE. In the event of a cancelled session or absence, make-up sessions will not be offered.
The Orff Ensemble is limited to 25 students in Grades 4 and 5 who love to sing, dance, act, and play instruments. This ensemble requires focus, collaboration, and a passion for performing. Since space is limited to 25 students, please only sign up your student with their enthusiastic consent. All students are expected to participate in our performance at the end of the term.
Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00pm in UP 101.
Ms Qualls will email you to confirm enrollment after registration has closed.
