Threats
Pollution and habitat destruction have led to the decrease in the number of sea turtles and become threats to their survival. Another threat is the overhunting of sea turtles, that breed or lay eggs on beaches, for their flesh as food and shells for crafts.
Conservation
Sea turtles are included in the ‘Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES)’ Appendix I.
