Threats

Building roads and urbanisation have caused a substantial decrease in numbers of python. Overgrazing by livestock and agricultural expansion lead to habitat loss and has caused decreasing numbers of this species.

Conservation

Boas/pythons are included in the ‘Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES)’ Appendix II.
