Threats
Argentine grey foxes are perceived as lamb predators of livestock in Argentina and Chile. Therefore, they are still being hunted by locals. Additionally, the increase in demand for exported "grey fox" pelts has led to the decrease of the foxes.
Conservation
Argentine grey foxes are included in the ‘Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES)’ Appendix II.
