Covering six material categories, then specialising in Timber.
Investigate how mechanical devices are used to produce movement.
Analyse the work of professionals and companies to inform designs.
Understand the impact of new and emerging technologies.
Generation, storage and choosing appropriate energy sources.
Communication techniques to present design ideas.
Course Content
This course is a creative design and making qualification at heart. Throughout the course, you will be encouraged to take design risks and to innovate through inspiring contextual challenges, helping you to develop the practical skills that you need to succeed in your chosen pathway. Theory covering six material categories will be embedded across year 10, allowing you all the skills needed to be successful in your NEA in year 11.
Assessment Structure
Coursework known as NEA - 50%
Written examination - 50%
Exam covers two sections A: Core Section B: Specialist materials.
You need to
