For my humanities project, we had the option to choose one project out of 29. I chose to do the assignment called Change a fairytale. I picked this project because I thought it would be fun since I like the story of Snow White. I wanted to explore the idea of changing the fairytale because I thought it would be interesting to connect the Snow White fairytale to our humanities food project. My project helps show how our choices about food and what we consume impact the human body.
This semester, we learned about food systems. Along with learning about food systems, we also learned about highly processed foods and how they can be detrimental to our bodies.
In physics and humanities class We made a machine based on the food our partner picked, and we made ours out of Legos, dominios, tape, and 2 marbles. My partner Alison chose her family's special cookies called pudding stuffed cookies, and I chose buttermilk pancakes. On the left side, the Lego represents the pudding-stuffed cookies, and on the right side, it represents the pancakes. And when you knock the dominos one marble goes to the left side with the cookie, and the other marble goes to the right, where the pancake is.
In this project, my partner and I made a blueprint for our Rube Goldberg Machine. My job was to draw our machine, and my partner, Alison, was responsible for writing all the annotations.
In this project, I made a visual recipe for pudding-stuffed cookies to represent my partner's food story. I drew a step-by-step recipe and an ingredients list with colored pencils and markers.
In this project, I made a comic recipe on Canva to represent my partner's food story of how she spends her Christmas Eve with her family, and her making pudding-stuffed cookies.
In this project, we were assigned to random groups, and we had to make a common theme throughout our wheel. My group chose to make a conveyor belt that connects each of our wheel segments. Each group member made one section of the wheel, and we would put them together at the end. Each wheel segment had a theme to represent the process that food goes through to get from the farm to the table. The four sections were Farm, Transportation, Table, and Money. And I was transportation. On mine i made the conveyor belt with a truck full of corn coming from Iowa, then to San Diego.
In this project, I wrote a letter to read as if it were a person. In this letter, I explained how reading has made my life worse, but I also explained how im greatful for reading.
In this project i traced my face out on Desmos using math equations. I struggled a lot with this because I didn't remember many of the math equations, and I didn't finish it on time. Next time I will ask for more help.
In this project, I made a poster about assumptions people might make about me. And then I put the truth. I learned more about data, averages, median, mode, histograms, dot plots, bar graphs, and pie charts. On this poster, I shared a little bit about myself, explaining things like how I commute to school, how often I eat in a day, and my learning style.
In this project, I talked about My Wicked Food Project
